Craig Mitchell and Matt Hagen arrange and perform acoustic soul music. The majority of content and focus is executing the songs of Prince through only voice and acoustic guitar. However, just as Prince interpreted songs of many different artists other than himself, Craig and Hagen do the same and use their artistic freedom and the spirit of improvisation to guide each performance.

Free Friday Night Concert on the Green!
with Mark Daly
The architecture of Madaila has changed since their last full band show on Halloween of 2019, with front man Mark Daly taking things full circle and going back to where it all started; just himself. What hasn't changed is Daly's ability to shell out albums at a prolific pace, having released 3 albums in the last year. The latest being the stellar "Good Lord Nancy," which came out this past March. With the return of live music comes the return of Daly to the stage with a new, unique solo set. But be on the lookout for exciting additions and different lineups, for with this new iteration of Madaila, anything is possible.

What is the press saying about When The Time Comes, our new album
"In their most realized band effort to date, one that truly captures the essence of West African, soul and psychedlica into a bold brew that retains focus, intrigue and undeniably stellar musicianship; Barika has created an underground classic." - Glide Magazine
www.glidemagazine.com/179107/barika/
"Barika has found its voice. Actually, the band led by Burlington musician Craig Myers has found several voices to flesh out its West African-driven instrumental groove music. He has long wanted to add vocals to his band’s sound, and Barika’s new album, “When the Time Comes,” features guest performances by local singers Kat Wright and Craig Mitchell and French-African musician Daby Touré." - Burlington Free Press

"When the Time Comes is a rare album; it allows the human mind to take a step back from the trials and tribulations in our daily lives, and provides a space to dig deep culturally and musically through the creativity that Craig Myers and the rest of Barika have created." - Live For Live Music

Friday Free concert on the green with: Pete Sutherland and Oliver Scanlon
Free Friday Night Concert on the Green!
with Pete Sutherland and Oliver Scanlon
PETE and OLIVER of ‘PETE’S POSSE’
Local folk hero PETE SUTHERLAND and his protege OLIVER SCANLON met up when Oliver was a shy 4th grader, where the two wordlessly bonded over fiddle music. Several years later they began to play out, later joining forces with guitarist Tristan Henderson to form ‘PETE’S POSSE’, a hard-driving trio that spent half a dozen years touring nationally and internationally with its innovative blend of rocking contradance music, thoughtful and hilarious original songs and soulful three part acapella. The Posse spent the first 8 months of the largely gig-free pandemic recording a double album of new music before Tristan left to be with his family in Quebec. With the trio in hibernation, Pete and Oliver have revived their duo act, featuring a wide variety of instrumental combinations, informed by all the musical styles and sounds the trio is known for, and continuing to keep the Posse flame burning while adding new repertoire to the mix.

Free Sunday Night Concert on the Green! with: Billy Wylder
From the front-lines at Standing Rock to the archaic streets of Jerusalem, the Sahel Desert to Carnegie Hall, music has been the source of strength for Billy Wylder. The band features Avi Salloway (Bombino/Hey Mama/Avi & Celia) joined by an inspired cast of singular artists who have performed across five continents including concerts at Coachella, Newport Folk Festival, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center.
Rising from the ashes of 2020, Billy Wylder forge ahead with their new EP, Whatcha Looking For (out April 9 on Sand & Gold Records). The music weaves together American folk and rock with sensibilities from the Sahara Desert, exploring new musical space akin to Devendra Banhart, Beck, and Tinariwen. The tracks evoke musical evolutions built on grooves informed by ancient African rhythms, art-rock textures, expansive guitars, violins, synths, and drum machines. Salloway’s lyrics flow with inspiration from mythical songwriting hero Leonard Cohen, while threading together more abstract imagery reminiscent of Thom Yorke.
The band has toured extensively, performing and collaborating with renowned artists including Jack Johnson, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Bombino, The Low Anthem, and Pete Seeger.
