Fulfilling the need that Town Greens have had for centuries. Bringing people together to enjoy each others company, food and entertainment.

Camp Meade sits on the banks of the Winooski River overlooking the Middlesex Hydroelectric dam and just upstream of the confluence with the Mad River. First Nation people have lived in the Middlesex area for thousands of years. Middlesex was the first town settled by Europeans in Washington County and Thomas Meade was the first British settler in 1783.

Camp Meade was a historic Civilian Conservation Corps work camp in the 1930’s. The 110 CCC Company, Veterans Contingent were known as the Monarchs of Middlesex. Many public works projects were built by these men and women, including the flood control projects of Waterbury dam and reservoir and Wrightsville dam and reservoir. Camp Meade was a hot bed of creative activity then and still is to this day. Camp Meade is on Route 2 at exit 9 on I-89.

Camp Meade is presently the home to Red Hen Bakery and Café, The Local: A Wine & Beer Shop, Sally’s Second Act, Sam Lightner Glass Studio, and The Green. Camp Meade is a place of sustenance for the body and the soul.

In June of 2018 Camp Meade started hosting events "on The Green". First by presenting the “Eat Up at the Green”, a food truck afternoon and evening each Sunday throughout the summer season.

In July of 2019 the "Eat Up"event evolved into "Free Concert Sundays!" with a bigger focus on bringing exciting musicians to our intimate Camp stage, along with local artists of all kinds and continues to offer a variety of food-Trucks / food-makers over the entire summer.

The Green at Camp Meade  is located behind Red Hen and is where these gatherings of social congress take place.
