Join us for a wonderful chance to learn some traditional Italian dances!
Celest DiPietropaolo and Marie DiCocco are musicians, dancers, and teachers with a lifelong interest in Italian cultural heritage. Following the RIVET conference, they will teach several traditional dances from the region of Emilia-Romagna that are still vastly popular today in the mountain villages of Italy. Although the dances are unique to Italy, some are also reminiscent of New England contradances, in both choreography and music. They will be accompanied by members of Vecchio Stile, a Vermont based band that plays the music found throughout Italy in the osterie and piazzas.
Teaching will start at 3:15 and go for at least 45 minutes. They will be happy to teach dances from other regions, if requested after that. Anyone is welcome to join on the Green at Camp Meade.
