Fluid Impressions Artist Reception

  • Camp Meade 961 U.S. 2 Middlesex, VT, 05602 United States (map)

We are so excited to fete two of our favorite artists: Barrie Fisher + Susie Conrad! Join us at the Planetary Art Institute at Camp Meade for the artist reception for our latest exhibit, “Fluid Impressions,” on Friday, July 25 from 5-7pm.

Fluid impressions are the evidence of change on the page, and each new brushstroke or translucence that Vermont artists Susie Conrad and Barrie Fisher add to their work illuminates a moment observed, witnessed, and felt. The Planetary Art Institute at Camp Meade is delighted to present these meditations as a conversation between two creators and friends, in keeping with our mission to support creativity, collaboration, and community in central Vermont.

Barrie Fisher: The first time I held a camera at age 10, I felt an instant connection—as if I had been there before. This moment marked the beginning of a lifelong love affair with capturing life and connecting with those in front of my lens. Raised amidst the dual landscapes of nature and NYC, my upbringing in both social and athletic environments fostered adaptability, shaping my diverse career and a portfolio spanning fine art, events, families, reunions, corporate, commercial, real estate, and pet photography.

Formally educated in graphic design and photography at New York’s School of Visual Arts, San Francisco’s Academy of Arts, Boston’s New England School of Photography and New England School of Art and Design, and the Lake Placid School of Arts, my journey also led me to teach photography at The Berkshire School and the Palm Beach Photographic Centre. Today, my fine art studio, located next to the Waitsfield farmers' market, is an inviting space where creativity flourishes.

Susie Conrad: Rooted in the hills of Connecticut, my journey has taken me far—from the classrooms where I earned a B.A.S. in Fine Arts and Business, to the world of numbers with an M.S. in Financial Technology. I’ve lived and worked under the southern sun of Melbourne, Australia along the cobbled streets of Maastricht, Netherlands and wandered coast to coast across the U.S. and beyond.

Yet, no matter where I found myself—in city crowds or quiet landscapes—I always had a camera in hand. Creativity was my constant; it moved through me, drawn to light, shadow. motion, and stillness. Now settled in with my heart in the Green Mountains of Warren, Vermont, I continue to follow that thread—one frame, one breath, one gesture, and one moment at a time.
